Action At Deer Park Bowl
Re: deer park critics
I just got back from a long road trip (Las Vegas, Sebring, & Montreal. First thing I did was check your website. Being an “old” laneman & often being criticized, I wanted to respond to the “critic” that gave you a shot for the apparent low turnout at DeerPark. Wish I could have been able to be there. At least you gave it a try. I often refer to a “quote” when criticism is given…so I’ll share it with you and your readers. Hope you like it:
It is called: “THE ARENA”
” It is not the critic who counts, not the man who points out how the strong man stumbled, or where the doer of deeds could have done better. The CREDIT belongs to the MAN in the ARENA; whose face is marred by the dust and sweat and blood; who strives valiantly; who errs and comes short again and again; who knows the Great Expectations, and the Great Devotions and
spends himself in a worthy cause; who at the best, knows in the end….the triumph of High Achievement, and who, at worst, if he fails, at least fails while daring greatly; so that HIS place shall never be with those Cold and Timid souls, who know neither Victory nor Defeat.”
I hope that your detractors will understand this.
thanks for the support lenny, if those critics, couldnt figure out that 20 bucks could get you
50 dollars worth of bowling lineage
all the food you can eat
a donation to charity
and a show
second team action bowlers, then how are they going to figure out teddy roosevelt?
At least you tried to give a boost to action bowling, what has anyone else done.
It’s the failures and wanna bees that knock everything and do nothing.
Unlike some bowling sites, this is a none profit one, we put our money and time into promoting bowling, were not trying to make a living from it, like many of our critics. We do it out of our love for the world of action bowling. Lenny, how much time have you devoted to junior bowling and supporting tournaments as well as helping many PBA members, with out earning a dime from it? The only cash you made from bowling was from your own bets, using your own hard-earned money, bowling action many years ago,
in the real NY, N.Y.C.
And I will add, you were real good at it. I guess maybe $20 was a little to high, lets face it, with that kind of cash you could buy a pizza and soda, maybe even have enough left over for a tip.
But then again, the people who complained about the $20 most likely don’t tip.
I’m sure no one knows that you had to pay for the camerman and editor.
Two days (14hrs) for the cameraman, and they’ll be about 20 hours of editing.
I guess that don’t count. If the place sold out, you would of lost money.
And of course what you spent to come to NY doesn’t count either.
Lenny, all I can say is I wish there were a thousand of you out there,
bowling would be a lot the better for it.
